Volunteer with RAD-AID Jordan

RAD-AID’s volunteer, Dr. Mohammad Esmadi, has drafted this report to evaluate opportunities to improve medical imaging in Jordan.  In preparing these operations for Jordan, Dr. Esmadi has produced a RAD-AID Jordan Country Report detailing the radiology resources, health care system, technical infrastructure and policy context of Jordan. Under the leadership of Dr. Malik Mossa-Basha, the RAD-AID Middle East Program, is focusing on educational initiatives in Jordan.

RAD-AID is partnered with the Syrian American Medical Society (SAMS) to help the Za’atari refugee camp, with a clinical focus on ultrasound image interpretation. RAD-AID sent its first team since the pandemic in early 2024 with SAMS to restore radiology educational collaborations and service-delivery to patients in need. RAD-AID volunteers spent time at Za’atari refugee camp, home to 80,000 Syrian refugees, where they provided ultrasound examinations to the camp. The team also participated in the first point-of-care ultrasound course for critical care organized by Dr. Abdullah Chahin, in collaboration with SAMS and Hashemite University. Through these workshops, the team provided basic ultrasound education covering technique and interpretation to over 120 Jordanian medical students, interns and residents.
