Volunteer with RAD-AID Vietnam
Mayo Clinic Florida (MCF) has been steering annual onsite visits to Danang General Hospital in Danang, Vietnam for over a decade with specific imaging involvement for >3 years. Danang General Hospital has 1,250 inpatient beds, 9 radiologists, and performs >700 radiographs, >400 US, >150 CT and >45 MR exams per day.
RAD-AID IR teaching session in Vietnam
In Danang, several accomplishments were made including completing the RAD-AID International Radiology Readiness and PACS assessments, holding a national educational symposium for Vietnam radiologists, conducting daily case conferences, performing and teaching interventional procedures (IR) for trauma embolization, abscess drainage, and nephrostomy tube placement and addressing supply chain needs for IR medical devices.

In 2023-2024, RAD-AID Vietnam conducted Radiology Readiness and Breast Imaging Readiness Assessments in collaboration with University Medical Center (UMC) in Ho Chi Minh City, with plans to support breast imaging at UMC. In 2024, RAD-AID visited Cho Ray Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City to assess Nuclear Medicine capacity-building strategies, with the hopes of launching a partnership in support of nuclear medicine for oncology care in Vietnam’s capital.
