During 2016 under the leadership of Marianna Zagurovskaya, MD and Zhamilya Zholdybay, MD, PhD, RAD-AID began a program in Almaty, Kazakhstan at the Kazakh Research Institute of Oncology & Radiology (KRIOR). The Institute is the national medical institute that is responsible for general screening, cancer diagnostic and treatment programs in Kazakhstan, established in 1960. It has an inpatient sector with a total of 430 beds (320 stay-in beds and 110 day-only beds) and large out-patient sector which is predominantly designed for second opinion consults, screening and diagnostic work. Program goals include: physicist and technologist programming and educational supplement for the radiology residency curriculum. Currently, follow-up trips are being planned with focus on radiology education topics in musculoskeletal, abdominal, neuroradiology, and other topics in a seminar format for the region.
