Diana Dowdy is a Certified Nurse-Midwife who has practiced for over 40 years.  She received her Master of Nursing degree from Emory University in Atlanta, GA, and Doctorate of Nursing Practice from the University of Alabama in Huntsville.  She became certified as a registered diagnostic medical sonographer in the year 2000.  She has provided midwifery and women’s health services in a number of settings, including public health, private practice, academics, and global medical mission work.  Her most recent positions included faculty status at Vanderbilt University School of Nursing, teaching graduate midwives and Women’s Health Nurse Practitioners.  In addition, she provided patient care at Nashville’s birth center, Baby and Company, as well as establishing a point of care ultrasound program there.  She developed an accredited women’s point of care ultrasound curriculum, which she currently teaches to advanced practice providers in Nashville and she currently is leading a point of care ultrasound curriculum for global midwives and skilled birth attendants.  As Director of RAD-AID Midwifery and Women’s Point of Care Ultrasound, she aims to advance midwifery, skilled birth attendant, and women’s health provider education.
