Enrichetta Ravina is Assistant Professor of Finance at Columbia Business
School. She holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Northwestern University,
and a B.A. in Business and Economics from the University of Torino.
Professor Ravina’s research interests include Behavioral Economics,
Consumption and Credit Markets, Corporate Finance, and Household
Finance. Her current work focuses on the empirical analysis of
preferences and decision making, and, in particular, on the effect of
appearance, personal characteristics and social interactions on the
consumption, borrowing decisions, and stock market investments of U.S.
households. Professor Ravina teaches Corporate Finance in the core
MBA program. Prior to joining Columbia she was an assistant professor
of finance at the NYU Stern School of Business where she taught an
advanced course in Corporate Finance.
Sarah Iosifescu is an Analyst in the Capital Markets Advisory Center
at the Grameen Foundation in Washington DC. She holds a B.S. in
Economics from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
Before joining the Grameen Foundation, Sarah spent about a year in the
Financial Institutions Group in Goldman Sachs Investment Banking
Division and then three months in the Private Wealth Group at Goldman
Sachs Bank USA. Sarah's current work at the Grameen Foundation
includes providing financing opportunities to microfinance
Institutions in developing countries in South East Asia, Africa and
Latin America. While performing this work, Sarah travels to the field
often to visit the microfinance institutions being considered for
investment and performs extensive due diligence, including financial
valuation, human resources and operations assessments and leading
interviews with senior management. Sarah is currently focused on the
Africa region, working with institutions in Kenya, Nigeria, Tanzania,
Mali, Senegal, Ghana and Uganda.
Aduke Thelwell is a Consultant at Bain & Company, a global strategy consulting firm. Previously, Aduke has worked as a consultant to two Indian microfinance institutions and served as Board Fellow for a Boston-based educational nonprofit. Prior to her experience in social enterprise, she spent three years in Structured Finance at Goldman Sachs and a year at NERA Economic Consulting. Aduke was a Morgan Stanley Fellow at Harvard Business School and graduated with high honors from Swarthmore College.
